Three more Spaniards to join Nadal at Thailand Open

Rafael Nadal will not be alone representing Spain at the Thailand Open 2007 with countrymen David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez confirming their participation in the USD550,000 event.

The Spanish armada will add to an already strong line up for the tournament that features top 10 players Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Roddick and Tommy Haas.

David Ferrer is currently ranked #15 in the world and will be making his first appearance at the Thailand Open. He is the winner of four ATP Tour events including two this year at Auckland and Bastad and has beaten many of the world’s top players including Djokovic, Roddick and Ivan Ljubicic.

Fernando Verdasco will also be making his first visit to Thailand. He is ranked #35 in the ATP rankings and has been one of Spain’s top-ranked players for the past three years.

Feliciano Lopez, currently ranked #64 has competed in the Thailand Open twice before including last year when he was beaten by Paradorn Srichaphan in the first round. The left-hander has proved one of the most popular players at the event with his movie star good looks and stylish groundstrokes.

Marcar. “They have always been popular with the Thai crowds and I’m sure this year will be no exception. Players like Ferrer, Verdasco and Lopez add tremendous depth to what will be our strongest field ever.

“More players competing in the Thailand Open will be announced over the next two weeks,” he added, “including another top 10 player.”

The Thailand Open 2007 will be held at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani from 22 to 30 September and is proudly organized by BEC-Tero.
