Flying start for two Thais at Thailand Open

Qualifying rounds of the USD550,000 Thailand Open 2007 started today and two Thai tennis players Weerapat Doakmaiklee and Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana advanced to the second round.

World # 740 Weerapat progressed by defeating Harshana Godamanne from Sri Lanka 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) and will face a tough test in the second round against American Zack Fleishman, seeded #1 in the qualifying singles.

Peerakiat, meanwhile, overcame the Japanese Katsuchi Fukuda 6-3,6-3 and will meet another Japanese player Gouichi Motomura, seeded # 6, who defeated Ashley Fisher (AUS) 6-3, 6-2.

Weerapat and Peerakiat will lead the other 14 players in play on the second day of the qualifying singles.

The draw ceremony for the main draw of the event will also be held today at 2pm at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok.
