Bangkok, in 1768 became the capital city of Thailand. Also known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, Bangkok is one of the world’s most vibrant, chaotic and charming cities.The city is the backbone of the country, as it carries immense cultural, educational, political and economical prosperity which positively impacts the growth of Thailand.

After the Second World War, the city bloomed. It grew in population and rapid urbanisation was brought to the city. The population escalated from 1.6 million in 1958 to almost 7 million within 50 years. Today the city is very much a multi-cultural one, with 25% of the city's inhabitants being of Chinese, Indian, Arabian, Malaysian and European descent.

Bangkok has become the centre for tourist attractions within the Southeast Asia region. According to Travel and Leisure Magazine and Conde Nast Traveler Bangkok has been voted Asia's most favourable tourist destination and best city in Asia respectively. The city features great cultural and architectural sites such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun.

The city offers sublime accommodation availability with hotels and shopping opportunities. The shopping also offers a variety of experiences from street markets to luxury malls.

The city also features a floating market, a weekend market, and night market (or night bazaar) and many department stores and shopping malls carrying world renowned brands; enjoyed by both tourists and locals. Two of Asia's biggest shopping malls are located in the centre of Bangkok.

A significant part of the Thai experience is the food; it is found on almost every corner of the city. There are noodle stands, food stalls and road-side carts everywhere offering a mouth-watering array of cheap and tasty options.

The city is exceptionally rich in culture and offers visitors an amazing array of sightseeing and shopping options.
